Our volunteers here at YAOS want to make a difference.
We believe that meeting someone living with an ostomy, especially prior to surgery, can provide a unique and valuable opportunity to ask questions, gain information and we hope to alleviate some of the anxiety leading into surgery for you.
Post-operatively (No matter how far down the track you are!), you may simply wish to connect to others who can relate to life with an ostomy. Perhaps you have a question or an issue, that one of our volunteers have experienced before and can help guide you.
Through lived experience of an ostomy, we wish to provide support. Whether that means a quick email question, or a catch-up over coffee, we want to help in anyway we can.
Young adults requiring an ostomy may face different challenges to those who are older. We can help provide information and resources that are specific to you on a range of different subjects. Let us connect you to the right professionals.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. If you feel that you can make a positive impact by meeting and helping others new to living with an ostomy, please contact us. We would love to have you onboard.
Our services are currently available in Victoria.
If you believe you can organize volunteers in your state, then please contact us.
We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you. Thank-you for your time and donations that make this important service possible.
